Captain Care is named after an old, sick dog, Captain, dumped at a shelter by his owner. He could not eat or drink. His confusion, despair, and suffering touched so many people. We did get him out and he enjoyed a few minutes in the sun, free and loved, before he was gently allowed to go to the Rainbow Bridge.

Help for Senior Dogs. Our goal is to never see another senior dog dumped at a kill shelter. Resources needed to keep the dogs at home will be explored on a case-by-case basis. If deemed the humane solution by a veterinarian for a very sick dog, Captain Care will provide funds for euthanasia as an alternative to having the dog surrendered, scared, alone and sick, to the shelter.

Stray/Impounded Dogs. Captain Care will assist families by paying the shelter fines and fees when they cannot afford to pay to get their dogs back home. We have helped bail out ten dogs as of September, 2014.

Spay/Neuter and Vaccinations. Information about low-cost or in some cases free spay/neuter and vaccination services will be given to families to avoid more puppies being dumped at the over-crowded kill shelters. Captain Care will also pay for spay/neuter.
