Hillary the chicken, though she lives outdoors in a secure coop with a spacious run, is friendly, talkative, inquisitive, and very much a part of the family. She’s going on 9 years old, but still lays a beautiful blue egg now and then. Her breed, the Ameraucana, is known for this. She loves treats like melon rinds, yogurt, corn cobs and grapes. I enjoy sitting on the deck, adjacent to her house, during the summer, and watching what I call “chicken TV”.
