Question: How are Votes Counted?
Answer: Donations made in support of a photograph are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated.
Question: How do I get a top spot?
Answer: Fundraise! The Canadian Heritage Photography Foundation ("CHPF") Photography Contest is a fundraising activity to support the collection, digitization and preservation of Canadian photographs. CHPF is an archive of photographs reflecting the diverse cultural heritage of Canada. With a focus on digitizing our holdings, CHPF aims to make these beautiful photographs available to everyone. Whether you are a photographer, researcher, historian, educator, film maker or a proud Canadian, the Foundation provides a window into our country's rich past.
Question: Do I have to live in Canada to enter the contest?
Answer: You must be a resident of Canada to enter. But voters can live anywhere.
Question: Who is able to see the winning photographs?
Answer: The winning photograph will be posted on
thechpf.com/photography-contest at 11:59:59 pm EST will be featured on
thechpf.com website and social media platforms.
Question: What happens if I cannot get high quality photos?
Answer: The Foundation requests highest quality image files to ensure long term preservation of the photo. Photos are requested to be 300 ppi and no less than 72 ppi.
Question: Will CHPF share my photos with other organizations?
Answer: Absolutely not. However, by submitting a photo, you acknowledge and give permission to CHPF to use the photograph entered in future various CHPF publications, promotions and other materials, including CHPF social media platforms.
Question: Can I enter more than one photograph in a competition?
Answer: Absolutely! The more photos of Canadian heritage the better. But only one can win.
Question: Can I be disqualified?
Answer: CHPF reserves the right to disqualify an entry based on objectionable content or depiction of animals or persons in a photo or photographs submitted which do not meet the theme of the competition. Donations collected less a 50% processing fee for all disqualified entries will be refunded, if requested by the donor.
Question: What will CHPF do with my photograph's entry once it has been uploaded?
Answer: By agreeing to the waiver, you will also acknowledge and give permission to CHPF to use the photo of the registrant in future various publications and materials, including CHPF social media platforms.
Question: When will I get my tax receipt?
Answer: Tax receipts for donations greater than $10 will be emailed to voters 60 days after the close of each calendar year.
