A little about me...
Archie is a 7-year-old Border Collie mix, this is his beginning. The first year of his life is a mystery to us. He ended up as at local shelter about 6 years ago. Let me set the scene a little so you truly understand how amazing he is. I was a lost 19-year-old that had just returned home to live with my parents after college. The impending doom of returning back to a small town, leaving behind all my friends. You could say I was looking for something to give me purpose. A light in the dark time. Archie was that for me. Though I first set out to bring home a kitten, once I saw Archie. It was over. He was mine and I was his. Imagine this small, timid, but excited to be loved dog pressed to the bars of the cage. Puppy eyes fully on display, drawing you in. The worker told me that he had been returned that day for the third time since being there at the shelter. I immediately started to tear up, texted my parents to let them know I would not be coming home with a cat, but a dog. As soon as I got to meet him, I knew he was my light. His huge brown puppy eyes melted my heart. His tail going at the speed of light, hopping off the ground like he simply couldn’t contain his love and excitement. Before leaving the shelter, I knelt down on the ground and whispered to him that I would be back, with a kiss on the forehead. It was time to say “see you later”. The next day I returned as soon as the doors were unlocked looking for him. I can still see him, paws right on the front desk, biggest smile. As I signed the adoption papers. He had a home. Forever. That was the start…Through the years he has taught me to be patient, what unconditional love is, courage, and has been my best friend. He’s truly that brightest light in my life. Through break ups, growing up and moving out, my father’s passing, he has been there. Still filled with as much love as the first day. I wish I had the words to convey truly how special he is.
