The time has arrived! Volunteer Ottawa is holding our sixth annual VOscars ceremony on April 28, 2016
The VOscars recognize those who raise awareness of volunteering; provide innovation in and around volunteering; and/or encourage volunteerism in the community. The VOscars celebrate those who make a difference and support our community by supporting and encouraging volunteerism.
We are calling on the Ottawa community to nominate volunteers in the community who are making an impact in our city!Nominate the person, business or organization that you feel makes a difference in the lives of others!
We’ve introduced some new categories and still have some favourites in place:
• Youth Leadership
• Female Leadership
• Leadership in Innovation
• Leadership in Diversity
• Leadership in Collaboration
• Leadership in Corporate Responsibility
• Leadership in Volunteer Spirit (Mayor’s Award)
The top three selected nominees in each category will be invited to attend the VOscars held on April 28, 2016, where the winner in each category will be announced. The VOscar winners are determined by an adjudicated panel, based on the nominee’s impact on the Ottawa community and volunteerism.
How to nominate & vote:
It’s easy to nominate someone for a VOscar! Simply click on “Enter Contest” to create an account, and upload a photo and 250 word bio on why your nominee deserves to be honoured with a VOscar.
INTRODUCING THE PUBLIC CHOICE AWARD!
This year, for the first time, we are introducing a Public Choice Award and calling on
YOU to decide who should be recognized with a Public Choice Award! We’re asking for the community to select the Public Choice Award in each category with fun voting contest! $1 equals 1 vote, and all funds raised will go back to support Volunteer Ottawa’s mission to build community by strengthening the not-for-profit sector. Volunteer Ottawa is the only non-profit and charitable organization in Ottawa that supports our community by linking volunteers with community.
Note: public voting will ONLY be used to determine the Public Choice Award winner. All other VOscar winners are determined by a panel of adjudicators, based on the nominees impact on the Ottawa community and volunteerism.
Celebrate Volunteers in our Community!
Volunteers are everywhere. From our Canadian election system, which is almost entirely run by volunteers, to the person who coaches little league for neighbourhood kids, it’s all done by volunteers. Food banks, shelters, hospices, civic parades, symphonies, art galleries, services for those with disabilities, newcomers, women, people who rely on long term care - all use volunteers to deliver the vast majority of their services.
Thank you for taking the time to nominate someone for one of the VOscars awards and helping Volunteer Ottawa continue to be the leader in building a community we can all be proud of.
Please review the criteria for the awards and nominate a deserving candidate today!
Nomination and voting deadline is Saturday, April 22, 2016.
