The Virtual Costume Contest is NOW OPEN for Entries and Votes!
Join in on the Halloween fun with our VIRTUAL costume contest! All pets are welcomed, including reactive dogs or species that do not do well at traditional public events. There are two ways to participate :
- Enter the contest! Click the button to submit your favorite picture of your pet for a chance to win fun prizes (including cash prizes for the entries with the top three votes!). Each entry is $10. Check out more details below.
- Vote for your favorite pets! Each vote = $1 and the proceeds fund the TCPR’s critical work to help homeless, neglected, or otherwise unwanted cats and dogs!
Through your support and participation in events like this, we can continue to go above and beyond for the animals in our care.
Prizes
Grand Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries with the most votes.
First place: 20% of net funds raised
Second Place: 15% of net funds raised
Third Place: 5% of net funds raised

Best Cat Costume: $10 Cafe Meow Gift Card (Roseville or New Hope, MN)
Best Pet + Human(s) Costume: Free 60 min Jump Time at Sky Zone (Blaine, Edina, and Maple Grove Locations)
Best Food Themed Costume: 2 Free Combo Meals at Taco Bell
All entries and votes must be submitted by the deadlines listed below in order to be included. This contest is open to all species of pets, not just cats and dogs. Pets/Owners do not need to live in Minnesota but do need to live within the USA to qualify.
- Your pet does NOT have to be adopted from the TCPR or any other shelter, to be eligible to enter the contest. People are allowed in photos, but only one costumed pet per photo is allowed.
- Photos with humans will be posted as is. If you wish to have a human face redacted, please do so before entering.
- Photos should not be rated R or include any human nudity, drugs, or illegal activities.
- Photo entries must be clear with adequate lighting, in RGB, .jpg or .eps format.
- All photo submissions must be digital.
- We cannot accept photos with digital overlays. Copyrighted photos may only be included with the written permission of the copyright-holder.
- Once photos are entered, you grant TCPR the right to use them at its discretion for print and marketing purposes.
- TCPR reserves the right to decline publication of any photograph for any reason. Should this happen, we will notify you and, if an appropriate replacement cannot be obtained, refund your entry fee if desired. TCPR has final approval on all photos submitted and reserves the right to replace an animal's photograph.
- The submission and voting periods begin at 8:00:00 AM (Central Time) on Friday, October 20, 2023, and end at 8:00:00 PM (Central Time) on Monday, October 30, 2023.
- Winners will be announced on the TCPR social media channels on Tuesday October 31, 2023. Winners will be contacted by email by November 7th and prizes will be mailed or delivered electronically.
Voting
Each vote costs $1, and there is no limit to the number of votes one may cast for the duration of the contest. You may vote for your own photo. Online voting begins as soon as the photo is registered and ends 8:00:00 PM (Central Time) on Monday, October 30, 2023.
