My humans still slap silly nicknames on me even after five years of demonstrating my sublime regalness since being adopted from the Monterey County SPCA. When I am about to jump on the table, they resort to my official name “KittyCat” with that “don’t do it” voice. But usually it’s “Kitty,” which is embarrassingly redundant. Michele likes “LittleOne” as an alternative. Meh. At least it’s better than her other favorite, “BigTummy!” She’ll use that with a stress on BIG when picking me up for a soft nuzzle. For the record, my tummy is perfect. Although the vet had the temerity to suggest I lose a few ounces before our next visit. Little wonder I hide when it’s vet day. Anyway, Mark uses yet a different name when he brushes me in the morning. PrettyGirl. Well of course I am pretty. But Girl? Really? Oh well, being brushed is dreamy. To such a degree that I drool. Fortunately, my humans don’t mind that mortifying foible. By and large they mean well and I’m happy that they live in my home. Lucky for them that I’ve magnanimously accepted the fact that they simply lack a talent for naming.
