For such a sweet, whip-smart pup, my Stasy sure had it rough.
I say, “Had” because I lost my angel Siberian Husky pup on May 5. A recurrent liver tumor in her furry “tummy tummy” ruptured suddenly— she screamed and collapsed on her bed in my arms. Catastrophic hemorrhaging. My baby girl died — at just three tender years — as I sought to comfort her a half hour later.
Before she left me to join the other angels in Heaven, she endured too too much.
Her first 18 months she lived with a rotten owner—so rotten he didn’t treat a festering wound on her puppy paw. When she finally escaped, ran away and was rescued, the SPCA vet was forced to amputate that front leg—the muscles had contracted cause it hurt her too much to put pressure on her little paw.
But with typical Stasy-style, you never heard my girl whimper about missing a leg. Why, Stasy had the best of everything in her all-new happy life with a doting mama. Being a Tri-paw just gave Stasy a kind of jaunty, bounce to her step ambling along on three furry paws. Life was good. Even when she routinely stumbled onto her face—or her nose—she gamely picked herself up.
Stasy was pure joy; an inspiration.
Then, last summer her mommy discovered her pup had a four-pound, cancerous tumor on her liver… yet with the benefit of Pets Best insurance, good care, the tumor was successfully excised and Stasy was betting on many happy years ahead. Till late April. Blood work showed the cancer had returned. Even so, a clinical trial and surgical intervention at UC Davis was scheduled; her prognosis—promising.
But God had other plans. He needed another angel to do good works up in Heaven. Not enough of the amazing ones to go around.
Stasy Yana (Russian for “Reborn Bear”) is missed beyond measure. Stasy was her mama’s rock star, her sidekick, her best pal, her support and her world. RIP my sweet angel—no more pain to endure. You now are free.
