Live & Love Huskies or Northern Breeds Story
On the warm sunny day of October 19th, 2022 my life as a new widow, was about to change, because of a 6 month old beautiful female Husky puppy named Splash. I had received a phone call from a lady asking me if I could foster a puppy who had been hit by a car and left at the side of the road to die. My initial reaction was how could anyone do this. Splash was underweight, had a complicated fractured right leg, (causing her hip to dangle), and was on several pain medications. Once I found out the shelter had received offers from 501c organizations to assist with the cost of her orthopedic surgery, I immediately wanted to help Splash. People from Ohio to the Netherlands, Colorado, Arizona, Las Vegas and San Diego had begun to hear about this sweet, shy puppy with expressive blue eyes. She had been placed on the list to be euthanized that same day. I had prepared my home getting a large kennel, plush bedding, toys, food
and I arrived 10 min after someone else came to sign Splash out, and my heart became saddened. I went to my car and prayed and next a miracle happened. A shelter staff member came out to my car, once she realized the people wanting her could not care for her properly. Splash's surgery & extensive PT went well. Today Splash plays ball, protects her 15 y/o brother Obie, & has no limping. Soon in a book.
