Suki
Live & Love Huskies or Northern Breeds Story
6am on a Saturday morning I am awoken by my phone dinging with a text message from Shadow Husky Rescue. It was an urgent plea from Liz saying that the shelter was going to put down a precious little 1 year old with an infected front right leg. We had 8 hours to get her out of there! One look at that face and I couldn't resist.
She was taken to the surgeon only to find out that Suki had previously sustained a gunshot that was not properly treated, leaving bone fragments that became infected with the STREP virus.
Long story short and many trips back to the surgeon, Suki is recovering well. She has brought life back into my pack especially since I lost my 10 year old female unexpectedly on July 6th. At a mere 49 pounds she plays with both Bolt (another Shadow Husky Rescue dog) and my massive 100 lb husky, shepherd, malamute mix. And she always wins! She is a total water dog and enjoys her walks every day with my pack and my neighbor's 3 dogs. She potty trained in a week and now has fantastic off leash recall. I had her rattlesnake trained and she did really well for a 1 year old. Necessary because we live in the San Bernardino mountains.
Foster fail for sure. My boys and I love her way to much to let her go!
