Why should this rescue win a spot on our calendar?
This wild stallion was on his way to auction and most likely, slaughter. He was severely malnourished and abused, distrustful of humans, and in dire need of hoof care.
STH needed to place him in a home that could provide a private pasture, away from other horses. My elderly mares and gelding have passed over the Rainbow Bridge and I have 4 acres of green pasture with a pond, run-in barn, two water troughs, and plenty of shade trees. He settled in right away and loves moving from one paddock to another and even made himself a private lair to hide in when he feels threatened.
Every day he trusts me more and even follows me around as I make the rounds checking fences and water. He allows me to come a bit closer every day. He's intelligent and kind in spite of all the abuse he survived.
