I was rescued by the Charleston Animal Society along with 50 of my friends from a puppy mill in Laurens County. When I was taken from the only home I knew, my cage, I didn't know where I was going but the adventure was about to begin. After a long drive, we were all checked out by people in grey outfits, bathed, fed and set-up in new warm beds. I was exhausted and when I awoke a lady was staring at me. When she picked me up, she smelled good and her touch was gentle. I heard her say, "Yes, I'll foster that one". Whatever that meant, all I know is life started getting better and better. Feeling grass under my feet for the first time was pretty scary, but not as scary as going up and down those stairs. But with encouragement from the nice lady, her husband and other fosters in the house, I eventually conquered the stairs and started making friends everywhere I went. One morning she told me I needed a procedure and took me back to the people in grey outfits. Before she left she said, "Take good care of him". What was happening? Would I see her again? She returned that afternoon with tears in her eyes, and said, "YES, we will adopt him". Without the Charleston Animal Society, I don't know what my life would be like today. I am the luckiest pup in the Lowcountry!
