Welcome to the Portrait Society of America's International Self Portrait Project! During the current COVID-19 health crisis, we are challenging artists around the world to paint, draw, or sculpt their quarantine self-portrait because you are your best model during this time. This is an online-only contest, and the winners of the contest will be selected by voters.

The Entry Fee is $5.00, and every vote for your favorite work is $1.00. Funds raised will be used to support the ongoing educational programming of the Portrait Society of America.


1^st Place

• 2021 Conference Tuition and featured article (a $635.00+ value)

2^nd Place

• Sargent palette with DVD (a $149.00 value)

3^rd Place

• 1-year membership (a $70.00 value)

We will accept original, 2- and 3-dimensional art only. Any medium including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastel, charcoal, pencil, pen and ink, bronze, and wood will be accepted. No photography prints or computer-generated artwork will be accepted. Because this is an online competition, there are no size restrictions. The submission must be an original self-portrait created in 2020. Artwork must be original and of high quality, so only submit your best work.

Submission opens on June 24, 2020 at 8:00 AM EST and closes on July 24, 2020 at 11:59:59 PM EST. Voting will begin on July 25, 2020 at 12:00 AM EST and end on August 24, 2020 at 11:59:59 PM EST. The First, Second, and Third place winners will be announced by Mary Whyte on August 27, 2020 at 4:00 PM EST during her opening Welcome to attendees for The Art of the Portrait Live Webinar.
