Entrant's Full NameNereyda Diaz-Ramirez
BioAs a little girl, I've always been known to care for others, be independent, stand up for what's right and be strong. I helped my parents take care of my 5 siblings at a young age, both of parents worked. That's where my passion to help other started. I remember sometimes heading out to DTLA to take bags of clothes for the less fortunate & I learned to appreciate what I had. I thank my parents for that. I also dealt with bullying. I was bullied for my facial scars and appearance. I learned as I got older to love and embrace myself. I went through some rough times in life but I knew that something or someone was going to step into my life. There was this one guy that I would never of thought would change me and my life. He is now my husband of 8 years and we have 3 beautiful kids: one boy and 2 girls. I wouldn't want my life any other way. I am a stay at home mother that works 2 days out of the week. I use to have a 9-5 office job but my husband asked that I stay home to take care of the kids and watch them grow. Thanks to him I have been able to be there every step of the way with our kids. I have kept myself busy with their school events/activities and sports. I've always wanted to show my kids to appreciate what they have. So we started to help out with Hiccups Pizza Project on Skid Row. They would get donations to buy pizza, fruit, desserts, drinks, and also would set up racks of clothing and shoes. My kids hubby & I would help out with passing out the food or helping them pick out clothing. From doing this with our kids, we see things different in life. I want to teach my kids to help those in need, to stand and fight for what they want in life. I am proud of how much they have accomplished in their little lives. We are able to do Random Acts of Kindness here and there. Which we feel very blessed to do that. I work with the elderly 2 days out of the week. They need someone to talk to and attend to their needs. I've built a close relationship with them and when they are sick or hurt I worry like if they were my family. Working with the elderly has taught me to appreciate my parents a lot more. I don't like the idea of how kids can just abandon their parents and move on with lives. These are people that gave you life. I try my best to let my kids know to always remember where they came from and never forget who helped them get where they want to go. I love my kids, husband and parents for what they bring into my life. I want to be a good role model for my kids & others.
This past year I searched for a group/club of women who support and inspire each other. I started looking around on social media. At the end of November, I found a sisterhood called Rockabilly Mafia Dolls. I decided to message them, check out their website and find out what they stood for. I got a response from one of their Elite Board Members. She told me they were a vintage inspired sisterhood that gives back to our communities while empowering women. I told them I would talk it over with my husband and message them back. My husband asked, "Are you sure this is something you really want to add to your life on top of taking care of kids and will you have the time?" I said, "Yes, I want this. I can manage our kids, the house and the Rockabilly Mafia Dolls." We had to figure out how to work with his motorcycle club and now Rockabilly Mafia Dolls (RMD). I was so happy that he supported me on my decision. So I messaged RMD saying I was ready to join, I was referred to the Long beach chapter. I attended their December meeting. I was able to meet some of their members and the President of the LA chapter. I got more information on what RMD. So by January 2016 I signed in as a prospect. I loved how they empowered and brought ideas to the table about how to help out in our Long Beach community and raise money to help out the less fortunate. I was able to give input and help see those ideas thru. Now as an official member with a President title to RMD Long Beach Chapter. I have been able to get our chapter to participate in beach clean up's and volunteer at a local church to feed the less fortunate. I'm still working on getting our chapter known and to volunteer more. I am proud of what I have accomplished as an RMD "Doll" with the help of my other Long Beach chapter dolls and Elite mentor Sylvia Romo and Founder Vanessa Garcia. I love this sisterhood.
Thank you to everyone that believes in me. Love you all
