Connecting with Animals and our Community
For more than 75 years, the
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) has been a resource for our community. From enabling adoptions to assisting injured wildlife, aiding pet owners in need and answering calls from across the region, the AWLA is a pillar of our community — but we can only do it with your support!
Why Participate?
Each entry and vote in our 2023 Photo Calendar Contest is a dollar that goes to the support of animals throughout the region: from providing
emergency medical treatment to lost dog hit by a car to giving an unsocialized kitten a chance to learn to trust in
foster care. Your donations support not only animals in the shelter but throughout the city, with outreach programs like our
Pet Pantry that provides pet food and other supplies to owners in financial need; future
Pet Care Fairs to provide rabies vaccines and other resources to pets in underserved communities; and our
Crisis Care program to provide short-term lodging for pets of owners undergoing emergency life events.
Your support means that we can help animals and people not only in Alexandria but also from under-resourced shelters across the country, finding more homes for animals…and connecting more people with beloved pets.
Your donation makes all the difference to Alexandria's Animals. Show your support for animals — and people — across your community and register or vote for your favorites beginning June 1!
