Pete is more like one in a billion. Pete was the first big and best decision my husband and I have made together. We got married two years ago and after year one we decided it was time adopt a dog. After searching for what seemed like thousands of dog we found Pete at Oakland Animal Shelter. My husband and I both work in the city and needed to Oakland to visit with Pete, knowing he was the ‘one’. It was a Giants game; meaning getting out of the city was a nightmare. Two hours later we arrived in Oakland, with only 15 minutes left until closing. The kind souls at Oakland Animal Shelter allowed for us to meet Pete and we fell instantly in love. There was no doubt, Pete he was our pup. A this point the shelter was technically closed. I was nearly brought to tears knowing that Pete might get adopted the next day. Knowing how far we came and the effort put forth to visit Pete, the officers push one last application through the system. That following Sunday Pete came home with us and without something else –sorry bud, we love you!
