Hickory came to live with me in January 2021 after being released to rescue by a hunt club in the south where he spent the first 5 years of his life being treated as a piece of sports equipment, rather than a companion. He is very timid and shy, but is a very, very sweet guy who is learning (slowly) what it means to be a well-loved member of the family. He has learned about dog treats, which he now loves, has started to play a few games with me in the fenced in yard, likes to ride in the car with his ears flying in the wind, and loves to relax on his bed where he makes a nest with his blankets every night.
