2024 Michigan Humane Pet Photo Contest

Enter your pet for a chance to win a spot on one of our Michigan Humane seasonal greeting cards!

You can show off your pet's best photo and help enrich the lives of animals in your community by entering Michigan Humane's 2024 Pet Photo Contest in partnership with MetLife Pet Insurance.

All pet owners are welcome to enter a photo of their pet in the contest with a minimum $25 donation.

Contest participants can email friends and family to support their campaign by voting with a donation; each dollar will represent one vote. When the contest ends, the top entries on the leaderboard – those with the most votes by 12:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Friday, August 30, 2024 – will win a spot on one of our seasonal greeting cards!

The money raised from the contest will support the Michigan Humane mission to improve and enrich lives through compassionate care, community engagement and advocacy for animals.

Rules

Contest Entry

To submit your pet's photo, a minimum $25 donation is required. This amount will enter you into the contest. The entry fee will be included in the overall funds donated to your campaign.
Pets in entry photograph must be available for photos after the contest concludes.
Entries must be submitted online. You may submit as many entries as you like. However, if friends or family members are encouraged to spread their votes out over multiple campaigns, this will reduce the chance of each pet photo winning a prize in the contest.
Once entered, all photos and associated content become the property of Michigan Humane to be used for print and marketing purposes.
Any photo or caption deemed inappropriate as determined by the staff of Michigan Humane will be removed from the photo contest.

How You Can Win Prizes

Your pet's photo could win a spot on the 2025 Michigan Humane seasonal cards sold in our online store and distributed to donors year-round.
At contest's conclusion, the top four (4) entries in terms of votes will choose (in order of winners) between winter, spring summer and fall greeting cards.
Places 5th-40th in terms of votes will be included in the 2025 Michigan Humane pet calendar in a smaller format (photo only). See the "Prizes" section for additional prizes.

Photo Requirements

All entries must be in color.
Pets in entry photograph must be available for photos after the contest concludes.
All entries must be visible and free of any pixelation.
Your photo entry may only contain ONE pet. Any photos with multiple pets or photos that include humans will be asked to resubmit a new photo.
The top entries who win a seasonal greeting card cover photo will have photoshoots scheduled at a later date (September 2024).
If your entry was taken by a commercial studio, you must have a signed copyright release.
Michigan Humane recommends that your pets wear a collar and ID tag and that you photograph cats indoors.

Contest Voting

Each dollar donated to a pet's campaign represents one vote. Keep an eye out for matching opportunities where your vote value could be doubled or even tripled.
Due to processing costs, a minimum $1 donation is required.
All donations are tax-deductible by law.
All donations to the photo contest are final.
An email address is required to make an online donation so a receipt with tax information can be sent to the donor. If you would not like to receive Michigan Humane news and solicitations via email in the future, there is a checkbox that you can un-check at the time of your donation.

All photos must be submitted online. Mailed photos/hard copies will not be considered.

Contest Deadlines

The winning entries in the contest (see "How You Can Win Prizes" above) ranked by total funds raised at 12:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Friday, August 30, 2024 will be included on a Michigan Humane 2024/25 seasonal card.
Online entries and votes must be submitted before the contest ends at 12:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Friday, August 30, 2024.
The winning entries must be available for greeting card photoshoots in September 2024.

Contest Winners

Contest winners may need to re-submit their photo to Michigan Humane as a high resolution, print quality image. Winners will be notified where to send photos.
Prize announcements will be revealed on the contest homepage within one week of the contest end-date.

Please note that places 1-4 must be available in September of 2024 for their photo shoot at either our Detroit or Westland location.
