Get to Know the Pets and Heroes
Dodger, proudly named after the LA Dodgers, is a fun-loving, enthusiastic Labrador Retriever. His mom, a Maui Humane Society board member, says he’s a sweet big boy who loves love! He’s a great brother to his MHS adoptee siblings and loves running around with them at their home in Kula.

Rhys is a firefighter from the Wailuku station on Engine 1. He has a black Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix named Hoaka. As a firefighter for three years, Rhys most enjoys helping those in need.

Bryant is a firefighter from the Wailuku station on Engine 1. He has an Australian Shepherd puppy named Phoenix and a cat named Milo. As a firefighter, Bryant enjoys working alongside his crew and showing up for his community.

Kamuela is a Captain with the Lanai station on Engine 8. He has a 10-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback/Labrador Retriever mix named Pono who is an excellent family dog. Kamu has served the department for more than 14 years, mostly on the West Side, and he enjoys protecting the community he grew up in.

Tasha is a firefighter from the Napili station on Engine 11. Despite her allergies to cats, she has two cats named Manapua and Puamana, their names being an homage to her hometown. Born and raised in Lahaina, and a graduate of Lahainaluna High School, Tasha is honored to serve her community as a firefighter.

Joseph is a firefighter from the Napili station on Engine 11. He has had many animals throughout his life, his favorite being his English Pointer/Pit Bull mix named Seta. Joseph has served the department for three years.

Nohea is a Captain with the Lahaina station on Ladder 3. He grew up with dogs in his family, though at the moment, he is dad to one fish named Sharky. Nohea has served the department for 16 years, and he enjoys the camaraderie that comes with the job.
