Rules

You must submit a photo of your horse and include: Name of horse

• Horse's Age
• City and state that horse resides in
• A paragraph that tells voters something fun or interesting about the horse in the photo.
  
  

• Multiple entries are encouraged
• All photos must be uploaded. Sorry, we cannot accept hard copies.
• Horizontal photos preferred
• The top 13 winners will win a free professional photoshoot from Beyond the Stables Photography & an 8x10 fine art print of a portrait of their choosing. Photos from the winners photoshoots will be used to make our 2025 “Horses of the PNW” calendar. The first place winner will also be featured on the cover of the calendar!
• There will be weekly high point winners as well! Each week we will announce the current leader, determined by high vote, to win bonus prizes that were generously donated by local businesses.
• All entries must be the original work of the entrant. You must own the copyright to the photograph.
• Beyond the Stables Photography and Kataluna Horse Rescue reserves the right to modify or clarify any of the contest rules during the term of the contest without advance notice.
• Entries will be taken from 8:00:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 until 8:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
• Voting will commence 8:00:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 until 8:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
• When commenced, each vote is $1 and the top 13 winners will be featured in our 2025 calendar!

Katalua Horse Rescue is a Washington State Non Profit located in Fall City, WA. All donations are non-refundable. Please contact beyondthestablesphotography@gmail.com for any questions.

1. The contest opens at 8:00:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. The contest closes at 8:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Thursday, March 21, 2024 Only funds raised within these dates will be considered.
2. Donations made in support of an animal are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated. There may also be promotions where donors can get bonus votes.
3. Participants can enter or donate from anywhere. However, contest winners must be physically present in Washington state to claim their photoshoot prize. Photoshoots will take place within a one hour radius of Fall City, WA. Haul in spots are available OR photographer will travel for travel costs. Photoshoot by Beyond the Stables Photography is required to be featured in the calendar.
4. By submitting a photo, you acknowledge and give permission to Beyond the Stables Photography & Kataluna Horse Rescue to use the name, story and photo of the animal entered in future publications, promotions and materials, including the 2026 "PNW Horses" Calendar. You also confirm that you own the rights to the photo you are submitting.
5. All calendar winners must be Horses that reside in Washington state or that are able to be transported to Washington state at the owners expense. Animals in contest photos must not be displaying any signs of distress (e.g., looking fearful or anxious). We reserve the right to ask for a new picture submission for any reason.
6. Kataluna Horse Rescue & Beyond the Stables Photography reserves the right to disqualify an entry based on objectionable content or depiction of the animal or persons in a photo, if an appropriate replacement cannot be submitted.
7. Sign up matching bonus day: Beyond the Stables Photography is generously providing 25 bonus votes when you make a self-donation of $25 or more during your contest entry registration by midnight on March 13^th 2024.
   
   

So long as an animal does not look distressed (e.g., fearful or anxious), you may enter the contest with whatever picture you choose. Winning submissions must follow the rules below for print:

1. Photos must be a minimum of 3600x2700 pixels (or 12x9 inches) at a resolution of 300 DPI. PNG, JPG and TIFF image formats are accepted.
2. Winners must own the rights to the photos they provide (i.e., photos taken by professional photographers who reserve the rights to their images are not eligible).
3. Photos submitted for the calendar must include at least one horse owned by the person entering the contest. Landscape format is preferred.
4. Please ensure that the photo selected is sharp and in focus as much as possible.
5. Photos submitted must =(spca.bc.ca/fivefreedoms). Kataluna Horse Rescue and Beyond the Stables Photography are opposed to practices that prevent animals from expressing natural behaviors. Photos should not feature animals performing unnatural activities. Photos of different species (e.g., cats with dogs) must show each animal looking comfortable with the interaction.
6. If the photo contains a person accompanying an animal, you must be able to confirm and provide express written consent from that person for the contest to use the photo. However, it is preferred that the photo not feature people.
   • Your horse does NOT have to be adopted from Kataluna Horse Rescue to be eligible to enter the contest.
   • Photos must be full-color and not heavily filtered, edited or altered.
   • Photos with professional photographer watermarks will not be eligible to be included in the calendar.
   • Photos deemed offensive, indecent or obscene will be removed from the contest.
   • Photos must receive at least 5 votes to be eligible for prizes and included in the 2025 calendar.
   • All online photo entries must be submitted by 8:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
   • All photos submitted become the property of Beyond the Stables Photography for use during the calendar fundraiser.
      

Welcome to the "Horses of the PNW" Photo Contest! Please read the following rules carefully to ensure your entry is eligible:

**1. Eligibility:**

- This contest is open to anyone who owns a horse or has legal rights to submit a photo of a horse.
- Winners must be physically present in Washington state for their photoshoot to be featured in the calendar.

**2. Photo Requirements:**

- Submit your favorite high-resolution horizontal photo of your horse (no humans in the photo).
- Include the following information with your submission:

- Name of the horse
- Horse's age
- City and state where the horse resides
- A paragraph describing something fun or interesting about the horse in the photo.

**3. Prizes:**

- The top 13 winners will receive a free professional photoshoot from Beyond the Stables Photography and an 8x10 fine art print of a portrait of their choice. (Valued at $550).
- Photos from the winners' photoshoots will be used to create the 2025 "Horses of the PNW" calendar, with the first-place winner featured on the cover.
- Weekly high point winners will receive fabulous bonus prizes donated by local businesses. These prizes will be announced the week that they will be awarded and winners will be notified.

-Weekly high point winners will be notified and can claim their prizes by:

-Arranging pick up from Kataluna Horse Rescue in Fall City, WA.
-Arranging pick up from Beyond the Stables Photography in Fall City, WA.
-If a photoshoot is also won, they can be delivered during the time of the session
-winner can pay for shipping of the prize to them.

 **4. Additional Terms:**

- Multiple entries are encouraged.
- Only digital photo submissions are accepted; no hard copies.
- All entries must be original work, and entrants must own the copyright to the photograph.
- Beyond the Stables Photography and Kataluna Horse Rescue reserve the right to modify contest rules without notice.

**5. Contest Timeline:**

- Entries accepted from 8:00:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, until 8:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
- Voting takes place during the same period, with each vote costing $1.
- Proceeds from the contest benefit Kataluna Horse Rescue.

- Promotions may offer bonus votes for donors.

**7. Photo Usage Consent:**

- By submitting a photo, you grant permission to Beyond the Stables Photography & Kataluna Horse Rescue to use the name, story, and photo of the entered animal in future publications, promotions, and materials, including the 2026 "PNW Horses" Calendar.
- You confirm ownership of the rights to the submitted photo.
