Board of Fur-rectors Photo Contest

Welcome to the 2025 Board of Fur-rectors Photo Contest benefiting Joybound People & Pets. We need your help electing two honorary Fur-rectors – one dog and one cat – to join our board, and at the same time, help us reach (or even surpass!) our fundraising goal of $35,000 to support our life changing programs that help pets and enhance the human-animal bond.

Joybound's programs include animal adoptions, veterinary care for low-income families, disaster relief, Shelter to Service assistance dog training program, and so much more!

It's easy to participate!

Submit your favorite photo of your dog or cat, then get your family and friends to vote for them by donating to Joybound. Please reference our photography tips for more information.
Each $5 donation counts as five votes for your favorite candidate or multiple candidates.
You can vote as many times as you'd like between April 2, 2025 and April 30, 2025. Voting ends on April 30, 2025 at 8 pm PST.

Prizes!

The number one vote-earning pet will receive a $250 gift card to Pet Food Express.
Honorary Board of Fur-rector

The top vote-earning dog photo and top vote-earning cat photo will be transformed into custom portraits to be hung at Joybound for one year, with a grand reveal at our Unleash Happiness celebration event on June 7, 2025 in Walnut Creek.
Winners will receive a poster copy of the portrait.
The winning animals will also be listed on Joybound's website alongside the human members of our Board of Directors.

The top three vote-earning dog photos and top three vote-earning cat photos will each win a toy and treat basket.

Prizes are not transferable and may not be redeemed for cash. Joybound People & Pets may, at its sole discretion, choose to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event the offered prize is unavailable.

Rules

Photo Entry Rules

Photos of domestic dogs and cats are allowed (no people or wildlife please).

Winning pets are based on votes by donation.

The featured animal does not have to be adopted from Joybound People & Pets.

Entries may only feature one animal.

Photos deemed unsafe, indecent, offensive, or obscene will be removed from the contest.

All entries must be submitted by 8:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

All photos submitted become the property of Joybound People & Pets, which may, at its discretion, copy, edit, publish, or modify entries for use in any and all media, without limitation or compensation to the photographer or the individuals and animals appearing in the photo. The submitter of the photos does not relinquish rights to use the photos.

Mail-in submissions cannot be considered for contest. 
The featured animal may be a pet who has passed away. Please note that if your submission is selected as the winner, you will need to provide a high-resolution photo (300 dpi at 11" x 8.5") to be transformed into the custom portrait.

Donation Vote Rules

To vote online, click on the participate tab above. The online voting period will end at 8:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Each $5 donation counts as five votes. You may place all votes on one entry or divide them among multiple entries.

All votes for photo submissions will be tabulated and displayed online.

All donations (votes) are non-refundable.

Joybound People & Pets is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please save your donation acknowledgment email for your tax files.

Prize Restrictions/Term Limits

Honorary Board of Fur-rector: This prestigious title is awarded as a special recognition. It does not involve formal responsibilities, decision-making duties, voting power, or any other typical functions of a human member of our Board of Directors. Board of Fur-rectors term limits extend for one year.
