Which fairy-tale character would your pet be? Why?
Lilybelle is like one of the 3 magic dogs in The Tinderbox by Hans Christian Andersen. A handsome soldier acquires a tinderbox that can summon three magic dogs that will do what he wants them to do. He asks one dog to bring him a sleeping princess from her parents' castle. I met my husband Mike while temporarily living in my elderly parent's casita while Dad went through several years of Hospice. When my last schnauzer died, I wished for Lilybelle and 2 months later found her, but she was in Utah (I needed a schnauzer because I know I'm not allergic to them). Lily was 8 weeks old in March of 2020 when covid struck, but Mike drove us out pulling our 1965 trailer to Utah to get her. My father has since passed away, but she absolutely loves my mom who is 93 and adores Mike's mom Molly.

Mike and I got married and live with Lilybelle in a vintage cottage in Rancho Santa Fe where Lily has her own green lawn courtyard. Lilybelle has the powers of three magic dogs in her tiny 7lb. body and she has given magic kisses happily ever after.

If your pet had a fairy godmother, what would they wish for?
She would ask her fairy dogmother to grant a warm bed in a loving home for every doggie on earth.

What is the most magical thing about your pet?
She makes people smile... she can make a stranger on the street smile with delight. We get stopped a lot because people want to pet her and they ask if she's still a puppy, and we always try to make time for them to pet her if they ask, because she brightens people's day.

How did your pet find their happily ever after?
I adopted my last schnauzer, and when she died I prayed we would find another that she could, as a doggie angel, select. A month or two later, Lilybelle was the only survivor of a litter in Utah. She was not officially put up for sale until the responsible breeder knew that she would make it and emailed me out of the blue. I did not want to try adopting a pet that I might have to return if I was allergic, so Lilybelle was Heaven sent.
