Why is your dog a hero?
Budget spent the first 3 years of his life in a chicken coop with 29 other dogs. As a result, he was afraid of everyone and everything. At age 3-1/2 he became paralyzed from a ruptured disc and spent 5 months in a crate trying to regain the use of his legs. He then spent 1-1/2 years in hydrotherapy, which had the added benefit of teaching him to trust people. Budget will never walk right again (he’s a little wobbly), but he can run and play and go up steps, almost like a normal dog, although he has to wear a diaper because he’s incontinent. Budge has the heart of a hero because he just keeps going, no matter what, and does everything he is asked to help in his recovery. He may weigh only 11 lbs, but he is little dynamo with a positive spirit. He’s taught me a great deal about resilience and patience, especially during this pandemic, and I appreciate him so much. He’s been a reason to get up in the morning (he won’t be ignored) and an encouragement to persevere.
