A photography contest for all ages!
Collective creativity is born from moments like this. The arts have the power to heal. And, making art is good for your health! Now more than ever, art is an important vehicle for staying healthy and connected with the greater community.
Photography is a medium that influences, inspires, and ignites change. Though photography is a much younger medium than painting, the astonishing technological advances coupled with the astounding reach of social media means there are now far more pictures taken every day than there are canvases in all the world's museums and galleries. When photography was first developed, the people behind the camera captured the world as they saw it. Today, during this time of uncertainty and social distancing, art can keep us together.
Enjoy the art of photography—and discover new perspectives using your camera with Hill-Stead Museum's "What Matters Most" Photography Contest. Everyone has a story to tell and this contest provides a forum to capture unexpected outcomes, epiphanies of personal discovery and moments of pure joy and connection. In doing so, Hill-Stead hopes to build a global community of creative-minded people. This summer's competition is open to everyone!
We invite the public to vote on the submissions. The most popular photographs will receive special recognition and the top FOUR (one from each category) will win prizes. Submissions will be judged for their ability to capture the themes:
Art In All Its Forms, Creature Comforts,
Summertime Fun, and
Victory Gardens. Contest entrants are not restricted when it comes to photography manipulation, so long as they do it themselves. So, get creative! It's time to shine.
The contest ends on the Fall Equinox, September 22, 2020.
