This photo was taken on my first day at Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary and rescue centre for distressed elephants in Nothern Thailand. The park's current herd includes disabled, orphaned, blind, and rescued elephants of all ages. Most of the elephants have been rescued from begging, logging or tourism.

Elephants are loving and loyal to humans, even to the ones who abuse them. At ENP, these sweet, gentle giants get to retire and live a more peaceful, natural life.
