Dexter is a foxhound from an overcrowded Virginia shelter who was brought to Darbster Rescue in November, 2022. He was transported by private airplane with several other hounds, all in search of forever homes. As Darbster volunteers, my daughter and I first got to meet Dexter at a Petsmart adoption event. As we walked around the store introducing him to potential adopters, we soon realized that he was just what WE were looking for. He was sweet and gentle and those big brown eyes and velvety floppy ears made me melt. Although at first he was shy and a little skittish, life with our other rescue dog, Mabel, helped him gain confidence. They became good buddies and soon Dex started to reveal his affectionate, goofy, playful self. Today he can still get easily spooked, but he absolutely loves all treats, lounging, cuddles, neck rubs, and high-speed zoomies!
