What happens when two local organizations and a celebrated local artist come together to support the animals of Douglas County? The Lawrence Humane + Lawrence Beer Co. Cutest Crowler Contest!For the third year in a row, we're bringing back the super popular Cutest Crowler Contest! Just like in the past, we'll have two categories – cats and dogs – and the winning animal in each category will be featured on Lawrence Beer Co.'s crowlers this summer, just in time for patio-hanging season!
And this year's Cutest Crowler Contest artist is none other than the incredible and celebrated local multi-disciplinary designer, Nicholas Stahl! If you've spent any amount of time in downtown Lawrence, chances are you’ve seen some of Nicholas’ work. From his early days in the DIY music scene and teaching at Lawrence Arts Center, to his current position as art director at Love Garden Sounds, Nicholas has been creatively intertwined with Lawrence for over a decade. Part of the Warehouse Arts District SeedCo crew, Nicholas is most recognized for his merchandise work for local beloved businesses such as Love Garden, The Raven, The Burgerstand and more!
The winning cat and dog will have their pictures drawn by Nicholas Stahl, which will then be digitally incorporated into the Lawrence Beer Co. crowler design. And best of all - the owners of the winning cat and dog will get to keep Nicholas' original drawings of their pets, beautifully framed!
The Cutest Crowler contest kicks off at 8:00:00 AM (Central Time) on Friday, March 1, 2024, and ends at 11:59:59 PM (Central Time) on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Participation is easy – just choose your favorite picture of your dog or cat (or the one that shows off their personality best), upload it, and then spread the word to your family, friends, and coworkers, encouraging them to vote for your pet! The entry fee is $5 and each vote is just $1. Stay on top of the competition by watching the Leaderboard and encouraging your community to vote for your pal so they don't fall behind!
What's a Crowler? These are 32oz aluminum cans filled to order from the LBC taps like a classic growler. A seamer machine seals them up with a lid like a normal can of beer. Crowlers are more environmentally friendly than glass growlers (recyclable, less impact in their creation and freight, etc), more suitable for outdoor adventures, ensure a clean container for fresh beer, and are the perfect size to bring home or to an event!
GRAND PRIZE: The dog and cat with the highest number of votes in their category when the contest ends will be featured together on Lawrence Beer Co.'s crowlers this summer!
Both winners' parents will also receive:
- Two complimentary registrations for Lawrence Humane's Paw Valley Challenge event in May and two tickets to the Lawrence Humane Fur Ball in September
- A Lawrence Humane shirt
- A Lawrence Beer Co. gift card valued at $25
- The original rendering of their pet drawn by Nicholas Stahl in the artistic style on the crowler, framed!
- Two complimentary crowlers, filled with the beer of their choice
- Bragging rights for having the cutest pet in Douglas County!
RUNNERS UP:The parents of the dog and cat who receive the second highest number of votes in their category will each receive:
- Two complimentary registrations for Lawrence Humane's Paw Valley Challenge event in May and two tickets to the Lawrence Humane Fur Ball in September
- A Lawrence Humane shirt
- A Lawrence Beer Co. gift card valued at $25
