We believe the coolest cats in the Cosmos live right here in central Ohio!
But we're searching for the
coolest of the coolest cats. And your feline might just be the one!
Why?
If your cat is voted the
Coolest Cat in Columbus, your beloved pet will be featured on the
front label of a special North High Brewery beer! You and your cat will get to name and brand your very own brew!
How cool is that? You will have the unique opportunity to work with the cool folks at SUNNY 95 Radio, Mix 107.9, North High Brewing, Cats Only Veterinary Clinic, and The Kiwanis Club of Columbus to feature your cat on their websites as the Coolest Cat in Columbus! How cool would it be for
your cat to own the title of The Coolest Cat in Columbus for a year and be the star on the label of a custom craft beer?
Cats earning the second through tenth place highest votes will have their photos on the
back label of the craft beer!
It doesn't get much cooler than that!
So Why Are We Really Doing This?
Ok, folks, here's the bigger reason for running a Coolest Cat in Columbus Contest. We're raising money
to help reduce infant mortality in central Ohio. It's a huge problem—much bigger than you would ever imagine.
Far too many babies die before their first birthday right here in our community. So the
Kiwanis Club of Columbus, and its partners
SUNNY 95,
Mix 107.9,
North High Brewing,
Cats Only Veterinary Clinic, and
Moms2B, are working together to bring awareness to the issue.
Dollars raised through this campaign will be donated to the Columbus Kiwanis Foundation which will distribute funds to central Ohio non-profit organizations whose mission is to help reduce infant mortality and provide health & human services and educational opportunities to disadvantaged children in Columbus.
So, enter your cat, vote often, and get in on the excitement!

Our Top Cats
Arthur R. James, MD, general obstetrician and gynecologist and associate clinical professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Center.
"The leading cause of infant death in Ohio is pre-term birth followed by sleep-related deaths and birth defects. Ohio has some of the most prestigious hospitals in the nation, yet, literally in the shadow of some of the best hospitals in the world, we have too many babies born in Ohio that don't survive their first year of life. But we are finally turning the tide in central Ohio. We used to rank among the worst states for infant mortality. Today, Moms2B and other local agencies are helping babies in our community survive their first year of life and infant mortality rates have decreased significantly." |
Dr. Patricia Gabbe, pediatrician, clinical researcher and professor, and founder of Moms2B, a non-profit organization offering comprehensive prenatal and first-year-of-life programs for women at high risk for infant mortality.
"Ohio still ranks high for infant mortality, a dismal 42nd in the country for keeping babies alive during the first year of life. We were the worst state for Black babies dying in the first month of life. But thankfully, those statistics are changing. Franklin County now ranks among the first in the state for preventing infant mortality. Early intervention and support services for women at risk for infant mortality have made a significant difference. We need to maintain and even improve upon this trend. Fundraisers like The Coolest Cat in Columbus contest are crucial in helping us achieve our mission." |
