We are excited to announce our ‘We're Nuts about Mutts" Calendar Contest! Our adopters submit their favorite photo of their adopted BHAR dog(s) and Cats and then recruit friends, family and supporters of our rescue to purchase ‘votes' for their favorite photo. Twelve photos receiving the most votes will win top 2020 calendar spots. Supporters can also purchase specific calendar dates to showcase their special canine in the calendar grid.

The top 12 canines with the most votes will score a full page photo on the BHAR 2020 calendar. In addition, the top three entries with the greatest number of votes will win 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place prizes!

Our full-color, high quality calendars make perfect holiday gifts for that special animal lover on your holiday list!

Best of all, your donations will help us make a difference for those forgotten ones in the shelters that no one has come for.


Honor a pet's memory or other hallmark when you reserve a date block for their photo. Want to celebrate your "gotcha" day? Your pet's birthday? Your birthday? Just choose one favorite photo, choose a date, and donate! First come, first served. Each grid space is $10. Purchasing a grid space does not enter you in the photo contest.

Big Hair Animal Rescue (BHAR) is a volunteer run 501c3 rescue located in Central Massachusetts. We are foster-based and have foster homes up and down the North East coast from Maine to New Jersey. Since being founded in 2015 we have saved over 850 lives. We are non-breed specific; however, we primarily focus on helping Chows and breeds that over populate shelters like Chihuahuas, hounds and pit bulls.
