ABOUT US
AHAR is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization founded by Robin Hamilton in December 2014. Having served as a board member and director in several roles of other rescue organizations Robin was inspired to start an all-breed rescue for Texas dogs in memory of her beloved, Allie Mae.
Robin and Allie Mae became a fostering pair in 2008. Allie Mae had a special connection with each foster Robin would bring home, never meeting another dog, or human, she did not love. Allie Mae would lay with hospice dogs and give them the comfort they needed to not be afraid and let them know they were safe. She also served as a surrogate mom to many puppies that she enjoyed playing with and teaching the ropes. It was easy to spot the kind soul in her eyes, and the gentle nature she shared with everyone.
Sadly, Allie Mae developed bone cancer in August 2014 and lost her battle on October 21, 2014. Robin founded Allie’s Haven Animal Rescue to honor Allie Mae and continue her legacy of compassion.
AHAR has adopted 1515 dogs to date and strives to place our dogs in the best homes possible. We love each dog that comes into our program as if they are our own. We are proud of the work we do; we are proud to continue Allie Mae’s legacy, and we feel blessed to have wonderful volunteers that share Robin and Allie Mae’s passion and love for animals.
