For Zuzu.
I will miss you every day until the day I die. You are my dog soulmate, my best friend, my baby, and the one who loves me most in this world. And now, you are gone.
These past few months have been so hard, watching your little body and mind deteriorate from kidney disease and dementia. Towards the end, I barely recognized you... you were a shadow of your former self. I am trying not to dwell on that & instead, focus on my Zusie.
She was sweet and loving with a dainty, feminine walk. She refused to lie on anything that wasn't cushioned, being the lil' diva that she is. I will miss her soft fur and the way she smelled. Baby carrots were her favorite snack. I will always want her in my arms, to feel her little head resting on me. Her little tongue was always hanging out and touching my skin. She hated getting wet and bath time was probably the only time she didn't like me. She hardly barked and it may have been years since the last time I heard her. She did make baby dragon noises though and they always made us laugh. She loved her teddy bear best and her duck second. I made sure she always wore fabulous sweaters and purple was her signature color. She loved being wrapped up in blankets like a burrito and her idea of heaven was basking in the warm sun. I pray that she is doing that at this very moment.
I pray that all dogs really do go to heaven. I pray that when it is my time, I will see you running over the Rainbow Bridge to greet me. As good of a mom as I tried to be to you, I was never good enough for you because you were the best. They called you a "rescue dog", but you saved me in a million more ways than I could have ever saved you. When I go, my time with you will be one of the most special things about this life.
Rest peacefully, my little Zusie.
