Your Pet's Story or Bio
Everest was rescued from neglect by AWLA. He was so thin that his ribs, hip bones, and spine were easily visible under his skin. He was malnourished, infested with parasites, and had gastrointestinal infections. Everest had to be hospitalized at VCA Alexandria for intensive 24-hour veterinary care in an effort to save his life. When he was released from the hospital in June AWLA asked if I would consider fostering him until he recovered. I could not in good conscience say no. So I said yes. Everest was still very ill when I brought him home, and needed near-constant care and observation. But he has made truly remarkable progress. The picture here is from mid-August. Everest's story shows why AWLA, its staff, volunteers, supporters and adopters do what we do. Everest demonstrates why dogs are some of the most resilient living beings, when given care and love.
