The “2025 Dogs of Des Moines” Calendar will feature winning pets at pet friendly and pet loving businesses around the Des Moines area. So put your best paw forward and submit your favorite image of your pet. Don’t forget to get your family and friends involved because every vote matters. The “Top Dog” will win a professional photo session with Katherine Austin Photography and the coveted cover shot in the calendar. The 12 runner up winners will receive a professional photo session with Katherine Austin Photography and a featured month in the calendar.
Why do you want to win a calendar spot? Not only will you be receiving a professional photo session of your pup and see their image in all its printed glory, but you will be supporting AHeinz 57 Animal Rescue and Transport.

AHeinz 57 Animal Rescue and Transport is a 501(c)3 foster based animal rescue organization headquartered in De Soto IA. Their main purpose is to care for the homeless companion animals in our community and surrounding areas. They also provide much needed services to the pet owners in our area through food assistance, low cost spay/neuter clinics, and strive to bridge the gap between traditional animal shelters and no-kill rescues throughout the central United States.
Reserve a Day to Honor Your Pet
Just want a guaranteed spot in the calendar? Reserve a day to honor your pet. This can be for your pet's adoption anniversary, birthday, loved one's birthday, memorial or really any special day! Your pet's photo will appear on the day of your choice. Just choose your favorite photo and then choose the day and pay! First come first served! Once a date has been reserved, it will no longer be available.

Prizes
Grand Prize winner
The pet with the most votes at the end of the voting period will be the grand prize winner. They will receive a professional photo shoot by Katherine Austin Photography at a pre-determined location, and will be featured on the cover of the “2025 Dogs of Des Moines” calendar. If the first place winner is not able to meet the specified scheduling guidelines of the photoshoot a runner up will be selected.
2nd place
There will be 12 Second place winners. The pets in the next 12 spots of the winners leaderboard will win 2nd place. 2nd place winners will receive a professional photo shoot by Katherine Austin Photography at a pre-determined location, and will be featured in a month of the “2025 Dogs of Des Moines” Calendar. If the 2nd place winner is not able to meet the specified scheduling guidelines of the photoshoot a runner up will be selected.
Runners Up
There will be 12 runners up that will be featured on a page in the calendar as a photo collage of your submitted photo. So make sure to put your best paw forward!
Entry
- Each entry is $5
- Limit 1 pet per photo. People are not allowed in the photo, only the pet. If your entry does not comply with submission requirements you will not be eligible to win and will not be refunded the entry fee as everything is going to the non-profit for donation.
- All photos must be uploaded. We can not accept and print or professional photos.
- Contest entry fees are tax deductible and your acknowledgement serves as your tax receipt. No other documentation will be provided
- Any images containing content that is deemed inappropriate, obscene or offensive will be removed from the contest and is at the sole discretion of Katherine Austin Photography.
- Submitting more than one image of your pet does not increase your chances of winning. Select the best photo and encourage friends and family to vote for your pet. If multiple images of the same pet are submitted and both land in the top 13 slots of winners, you will only be awarded one winning spot and the next pet on the list will be selected.
- Entries will take place from 8:00:00 AM (Central Time) on Friday, May 3, 2024 to 11:59:59 PM (Central Time) on Friday, May 17, 2024
Voting
- Each $1 donation counts as 1 vote
- All voting and donations are to be made online through the secure contest website and are non-refundable
- Contest votes are tax deductible and your acknowledgement serves as your tax receipt. No other documentation will be provided
- All winners will be determined by electronic tabulation under the supervision of GOGO Photo Contest whose decisions are final
- The voting period starts at 8:00:00 AM (Central Time) on Friday, May 10, 2024 and ends at 10:00:00 PM (Central Time) on Thursday, June 13, 2024
Winning
- The winners of the photo contest will be determined by the top 13 entrants that get the most votes
- The top winner will get the coveted cover photo for the 2025 calendar. 2-13th place winners will each get featured on a month.
- The top 13 winners will get their pet professionally photographed by Katherine Austin Photography for the 2025 calendar
- All winners will have the opportunity to purchase products and images following their session
- Winners will be photographed at the featured business locations
- The featured image in the calendar will be selected and is at the discretion of Katherine Austin Photography as well as the month in which it will be featured.
* If your pet is one of 13 to be photographed, you must be able to bring your pet to one of the participating business locations in the greater Des Moines metropolitan area for a professional on location session. Time and date will be determined by Katherine Austin Photography and the participating businesses. If you are unable to commit to a photo session during the available times or find yourself unable to travel to the pre-determined locations, you forfeit your winnings and the next top winner will take your place.
Additional Rules
- By submitting an entry photo you are representing that your entry is your own work or image and is not copyrighted and you own full rights to the image.
- Calendars will be available for the general public starting Oct 13, 2024
- By participating in the contest you are agreeing to release and hold harmless AHeinz 57 Animal Rescue and Transport as well as Katherine Austin Photography from and against any claims of any nature arising from participation in the contest and receipt of winning.
- There will be a secondary leaderboard for our participating businesses. Votes can be submitted for the favorite local business that will be featured on the cover of the calendar.
