About Us

Animal Care Shelter for Kent County (ACSKC), formerly known as The Humane Society of Kent County, is the only animal rescue and care shelter within the community.

In 2023, ACSKS opened the doors to its’ highly acclaimed new facility focusing on the health, safety and care of almost 1000 animals a year. An on-site medical facility provides immediate care for the animals we shelter until they find a fur-ever home or return to a volunteer supervised colony.

In 2024, ACSKC has assumed responsibility for Really Great Cats Rescue (RGCR) after serving Kent County for over 25 years.

It costs ACSKC over $1,000,000 a year to operate. The Commissioners of Kent County provide about $320,000 a year in tax dollars toward our budget. The remaining funds come from people like you and through fundraising events like the 2024 Petparazzi Challenge!
