2025 Critter Calendar

Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter (YVAS) is thrilled to announce our Critter Calendar & Pet Photo Contest!

Think your pet has what it takes to be a model? Show off your furry friend while helping support the animals of YVAS. To learn more about the mission of YVAS, click here.

Submit your pet's photo for just $10 for the chance to have your pet featured in our 2025 Critter Calendar. Then, ask your friends and family to vote for them through a $1 per-vote donation ($5 minimum). All proceeds from entry costs and voting are tax-deductible and will help save the most vulnerable animals right here in our community. Please see our rules for complete participant guidelines and eligibility requirements.

Our winners not only receive bragging rights for the next year, but our top 11 spots will receive a professional photoshoot of your pet to be featured as a pet of the month in our 2025 Critter Calendar! We will also be awarding 12 runner-up spots whose entry photos will be featured in our 2025 Critter Calendar. Be sure to check out the full details on all of our prizes.

Prizes

Grand Prize (1 Winner):

The photo entry with the most votes overall will be featured on the cover of the 2025 calendar and on one month of the 2025 calendar.
The winner will have their pet’s photo taken by a professional photographer. They will be contacted to arrange a date and time for the photoshoot.
The winner will also receive a 2025 calendar mailed to them.

Top Prizes (10 Winners):

The next top 10 entries, based on votes, will have their pet’s photo featured in one month of the 2025 calendar.
Photos will be taken by a professional photographer. Winners will be contacted to arrange a date and time for the photoshoot.
Winners will also receive a 2025 calendar mailed to them.

Staff Favorite (1 Winner):

One photo will be selected as the Staff Favorite by the team at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.
The Staff Favorite winner will have their pet’s photo featured on one month of the 2025 calendar.
The photo will be taken by a professional photographer. The winner will be contacted to arrange a date and time for the photoshoot.
The winner will also receive a 2025 calendar mailed to them.

Runners-Up:

Several Runners-Up will have their pet’s photo included in the 2025 calendar.
These photos will be selected from among the remaining entries.
Runners-Up will NOT receive a photoshoot but will receive a 2025 calendar mailed to them.

Rules

Your pet does NOT have to be adopted from Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter (YVAS) to be eligible to enter the contest.
Photos may only contain one pet and should not include any humans.
Photos must be high-resolution to be considered for the calendar.
Photos must be full-color, no heavily filtered, edited, or altered photos.
If your entry was taken by a professional or commercial photographer, you must send a signed copyright release to info@yvas.org
First Prize winners and our Judge's Choice winner must be able to bring their pet to a Billings photography studio for a photo shoot during the month of September. Any winners unable to attend the photoshoot will forfeit their prize(s) and be awarded as a Runner-Up instead. The contestant with the next highest vote will be chosen to take their place.
Photos deemed offensive, indecent, or obscene will be removed from the contest.
Photos must receive at least five (5) votes to be included in the 2024 calendar.
All online photo entries must be submitted by 11:59:59 PM (Mountain Time) on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
All photos submitted become the property of Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter (YVAS).
