Tell voters something fun or interesting about the dog in the photo. Is this a WRS dog or rescued from another organization? If so, when was it adopted? Share something special that we could include on our calendar if your photo wins.
Star was adopted from The Grayter Good Weimaraner Rescue after being with a family for ten years who became unable to keep her due to changing family circumstances. Star came to me from a foster family in Vermont in 2020. Star and I had a couple of difficult weeks as she and I became aquatinted but after that she accepted me and her new home and was quick to pick up the household routine. The foster family had warned me Star could be a little demanding but I had no idea of what that meant. I soon learned Star was just a little spoiled. When her internal clock said it was time to eat or time for her walk she stares at me and barks, pretty much until she receives what she wants. She loves treats and expects three following her walks and stares at me until I comply. Coming from Vermont she doesn’t seem too keen on the hot, humid Alabama summers. Her stubborn streak becomes apparent when on walks. If she is on a scent trail she completely ignores my calls or whistles. One would think she can’t hear but that is not the case. That is her communicating that what she is trailing is far more important than my wishes. Star has become a favorite with repeat visitors, greeting them enthusiastically each visit, especially the ones that give her treats.
