I raised my first Weimaraner, Zadie Mae, from a puppy. Zadie was the perfect match for me at that time in my life. She had a fierce prey drive. The woods around my house looked like mini mine fields where she dug up chipmunks. Zadie became an excellent quail dog after observing English Setters on a couple of hunts and eventually rarely allowing the Setters to retrieve any quail. She hunted pheasants twice, flying to South Dakota and Iowa. One of her favorite activities other than hunting was following me around as I bush hogged and cooling off in the creeks. Even with the hyper prey drive she did not bother my outside cat. She was such a smart girl and easy to train to do anything. I was heart broken when Zadie passed in 2012.
