Captain is the only Weimaraner out of the five we have owned that chews his front toenails when he is ready for a pedicure. He sits up and gnaws the nails vigorously until he has trimmed them to his satisfaction! The first time I heard this loud gnawing and grinding sound is when I discovered what he was doing! I was stunned with amazement yet did not believe that I just witness him giving himself a pedicure! He has continued this trick for six years. Of course, I never have my camera ready when he decides his nails need trimming.
