Azu (short for Azúcar, which means "sugar" in Spanish) is a sweet 13-year old Havanese who keeps me company wherever I go, including to my garden plot. He snuggles down in the spinach or hides under the potato plants to keep cool. He doesn't seem to hurt the plants--maybe he even helps them grow better! During this pandemic, spending time in my garden with Azu's loving company is what keeps me mentally healthy.
As you can see from his big smile, Azu is happy and contented just being with me, breathing the fresh outdoor air, taking life minute by minute, and reminding me to pay attention to all the good things in life--fragrant, fertile soil, green growing things, and the loving companionship we share.
