Pet's Story
Ember had been abandoned in Winnipeg in February 2022. She was an amputee (left hind leg) and pregnant. She was picked up by Great Pyrenees Rescue and went into foster care until her pups were delivered and weaned. She then went to the WHS to be treated for heartworn disease and adoption.
I had gone to the WHS to look for a cat and went and looked at the dog area also. I think it was love at 1st sight but I didn’t want to make a rash decision and went home to think about the commitment. 2nd visit was going into her holding area and taking her for a walk. Still unsure I went home to ponder my decision to adopt Ember. I knew I couldn’t leave her at the WHS and leave it up to chance that she would find her forever home.
Ember is a sweet, strong girl who is very patient with small dogs, She lets them jump
all over her and give her kisses.
She definitely had her forever home and is indulged with treats and love and belly rubs.
She also really enjoys her KFC chicken, skin and bones removed of course!
I’m not sure of her life before me but Ember definitely had some trauma and still she likes humans of all sizes.
I’m not sure who saved who with this adoption.
