About
Founded in 1904, Wood County Humane Society is a private, non-profit, managed admission shelter providing care for homeless, abandoned, neglected, and abused animals and investigating animal cruelty complaints in Wood County, Ohio. The Wood County Humane Society receives no funding for its daily operations from national humane organizations, instead relying on fundraising and the generosity of individual donors and businesses to fund our community programs such as Safe Haven and pet food assistance programs, and educational presentations. WCHS cares for over a thousand cats and dogs each year and provided the community with over 723lbs of pet food assistance in 2024. The Wood County Humane Society exists to be a community leader providing services and resources that enrich the relationship between animals and humans through advocacy, education, and animal welfare.
