Pet's Story or Bio
Sam’s face is one of a survivor. He was rescued by a wonderful individual who witnessed the horrific abuse leveled against him by his so-called guardian. Sam was repeatedly kicked and thrown against a wall. He lost many of his teeth as a result. After taking him in, a search for a forever home went out, and that’s where we entered Sam’s life.

We have had Sam (named after Samuel Clemons and Sam Elliot for their distinctive mustaches) for over two years now. I took us nearly a year and a half to earn his trust and allow us to touch him. Once he did though, his personality shown through. Sam is a big boy with soft long hair, big paws, and a bobbed tail. He is an expert biscuit maker and adores his face being rubbed. It is beyond our understanding how anyone could abuse such a sweet boy.

Sam stands as a testament not only to the resilience he has shown in the face of such cruelty, but also as an example of how patience, compassion and love can be effectively used to heal trauma. By sharing Sam and his story through the Rochester Top Pet contest, we hope to encourage more people to give animals like Sam a better chance to know that their lives matter and that compassion and kindness exist in the world.
