Did you know that most students who are poor readers in 3rd grade will remain poor readers in high school? Children who cannot read proficiently by the 4th grade are up to 15x more likely to drop out of school. Students who don’t graduate are not qualified for 90% of jobs and earn on average just $23,000 per year.
At Traveling Stories, we transform reluctant readers into confident ones! Our Virtual StoryTent offers personalized reading support for students entering 1-3rd grade. Children are matched with a vetted and trained reading mentor for one-on-one reading sessions via video every week.
During Virtual StoryTent sessions, children and their mentors will read together, play literacy games, and talk about books. Children will earn Book Bucks to spend on prizes that can be shipped to them at no cost.
Children who participate in the program increase their confidence and improve their reading skills.
