Pet’s rescue story in 500 words or less
I rescued Country, who is 11yrs. old{tan}from a very abusive neighbor in 2013. My son came in very upset & told me about this poor dog being abused. Poor little guy was being kicked & thrown by the 2 boys at the house. I went over & gave them a choice of Police or the hard way, they chose to hand him over. He was under weight, injured, scared, & having blood coming out of places for the 1st 2 weeks. I was lucky to have the money to take him to the vet for treatment. Now 10yrs. later, he is such a cuddle bug, loved by everyone that meets him, with his pug tail & Elvis smile that are just so adorable. He is a Pug mix. I only had Country a month when Skitter found us. Skitter{black & white}, also 11yrs old, was rescued in 2013 after he came running across 6 lanes on US1 & Parkway to bark at me & Country taking a walk. He was almost hit by a white van coming over. Luckily there was no other cars coming either direction. I had to pick Country up & at 1st pushed him away thinking i was going to get bitten. He kept circling us & barking. I finally tried to calm him down & he ran back across all 6 lanes, again almost getting hit, but this time by several cars from both sides. Holding Country, i crossed to try to get him to come to me. He went under a parked car so i called for some back up. My husband & 2 friends came with a McDonald's cheese burger to help get him to trust us & to be able to grab him from under the car. He was SO ANGRY, but my husband was able to hold onto him & we drove home. We posted found signs around the adult condos & light posts on Pineapple, the gas station, all over, & placed information on the Facebooks lost & found pets. I called the humane society to ask if he was on their list & i took him to the vet to see if he was chipped. Nothing. At 1st, he didn't want anything to do with us or Country, other then to go out or to eat. He did NOT like the leash. After 2 weeks, he was warming up to us & Country, even playing & sleeping next to him. At the month mark, with no responses, i was told i could keep him with us. We took him to the vet to get all shots, got both of them chipped & registered him. He is now my little shadow & is very protective of me. He is my little cuddle bug, but loves his daddy if i'm not home. Skitter is a Dachshund. This is the longest i've ever had any Fur Baby{s}
