Pet’s rescue story in 500 words or less
Xena was rescued by Touch of Grey on 2 June 2021. She was found in a field with only a remanent of a back right leg, they had gathered she had been walking on the bone for several days. I was told she also had a very large shock collar on when she was found. She was immediately taken to a local vet where her back leg was amputated at the hip. Her rescue angels, Jeremy and Vince took exceptional care of her while looking for her forever home. I saw “Trina” (the name given to her by her foster parents) on the Touch of Grey Facebook page near the end of June. I was immediately struck by the dignity and kindness I could see in her eyes. She had been through so much but she still had the power to over come. Arrangements were made and Jeremy brought “Trina” for a meet and greet at my home. After an initial bribe of fresh homemade doggie treats she jumped up on the couch and sat with her head in my lap. I was truly smitten. It was July when I was chosen to be her forever person. I could not wait to go pick her up. As she laid trembling in the passenger seat and I talked to her on that two hr ride I realized what a warrior she was, it was on that car ride to her forever home her name changed to Xena. Any soul who had been through what she endured truly is a Princess Warrior. She is my constant companion. Her most favorite thing to do is to take long walks along the Indian river which we do daily. She still sits most times with her head in my lap, just content to be near. Xena is a loyal protector and most fabulous companion. I can’t imagine my life without my Zee-Zee by my side. She brings me such joy and happiness and asks for so little.
Thank you Touch of Grey for rescuing her and bringing her into my life. It truly is a toss up on who rescued who.
