I was adopted or rescued!A little about me...Midnight was a shy, introverted and mysterious Bombay kitty.
She liked to hide and it seemed sometimes for days at a time. Sometimes we would find her nesting behind the TV in the TV cabinet. And when she finally emerged she could be (not always)
a timid "scaredy cat" verses the bold black cat image on Halloween "frightening" strangers in the night.
Midnights sleek fur coat made her look like a black panther with her pearl black silhouette shining in the light and striking amber eyes. While some say crossing the path of a Black Cat is bad luck, Midnight is such a curious and sweet girl, you would actually be quite lucky to have met her and pet her. She also had an adorable gentle purr.
Rescue story: We rescued Midnight when she was just a little kitten in Kearney when she ran across the road in a neighborhood near a relative. She was running from something which scared her and she had a massive red gash taken out of her fur due to another larger animal biting her, or a human mis treating her. Either way, it took some coaxing and time (weeks actually) for her to feel safe and confident around us (any human). But in time, she warmed up to us and came around. We fed her and comforted her.
We cared for Midnight for over 9+ years and while she was mostly timid and shy throughout her cat life, over time towards the end she had gained a lot of confidence and swagger. Midnight brought boundless joy to our household with her boyfriend Super Switch. She is lucky to have run across our path that evening, but we also were lucky because of the love & tenderness she shared with us.
According to the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) the Bombay breed was created by a Louisville, KY breeder named Nikki Horner, who set her sights on producing a copper-eyed, black short haired cat with the exotic appearance of a mini or “parlor” panther. The black leopard of India inspired her choice of the breed’s name and the most defining characteristic of the Bombay is its short, flat, gleaming, black-to-the-roots fur coat. And along with its conspicuous large, brilliant gold (to copper) eye color, the Bombay is described as the “patent leather kid with the new penny eyes.” This description definitely fits our "Midnight."
