I was adopted or rescued!A little about me...We adopted Skittles in the month of May, "Be Kind to Animals" month. We thought rescuing a new kitty (one with the eyes of an emerald - the brilliant birthstone which stands for "love and rebirth" ), would help us move on from some family changes. Because sometimes the best way to leave your problems behind is to help out another in need. So we adopted our homeless cat Skittles.
We chose Skittles out of so many available at the shelter at that time for many reasons, but mainly because her purring was soft but earnest. And two her eyes were piercing in color (a brilliant bright green just like rare emeralds), and three, she needed a home. We thought with the right care, we could make her feel loved.
What happened is she turned out to be a true gem to our family because Skittles exceeded our hopes for a new family member to share our lives with. She is so cute and adorable, so warm, so loving - and in many ways gave a new birth within our house to look forward in a positive way after a personal loss.
Skittles may have needed us at the time we rescued her, but I realize we may have needed her more. Adopting a shelter cat is one of the best things we have ever done and we encourage others to do the same. I saw a sign once which said, "A home without a cat (or dog) is just a house." I think that is true and we are blessed to have Skittles company and purring in "our home" today.
