Dog's Bio
This sweet pup is the epitome of resilience (and oh boy is he a trooper!). After everything he’s been through, he exudes nothing but pure joy & happiness. Trooper was born in Mexico & his former owners were extremely abusive. They would repeatedly hit & kick him & kept his mouth tied shut so he wouldn’t yelp or bark for help. The scar on his snout from where the rope lacerated his skin is still visible today.
During one of his owner’s rages, Trooper was beaten with a pole, which ended up breaking his hind leg. Poor Trooper lived with that broken leg for quite some time dragging it around as he walked. We can’t imagine the pain he must’ve been in.
An individual witnessed multiple accounts of his abuse, but was too afraid to intervene because the owners were involved with a drug cartel. But one day, when the owners were away, a hero stole Trooper & rescued him from that life of torment.
Trooper had lacerations & scars all over his body & some of his teeth had been broken. Once rescued, he was taken to a veterinarian, but they were unable to save his broken leg & it had to be amputated. After surgery, Trooper recovered in a loving home with his foster mom- this was the first time in his life he experienced love.
Two weeks after his surgery, Trooper made the long journey across the border to the USA & on June 2nd 2020 he officially joined @theanimalpad . I was scheduled to volunteer at The Animal Pad on June 4th to take care of the new dogs, that’s when I first met Trooper. He was instantly glued to me & wanted to cuddle the entire time. There was no way I could leave without him. So after my shift, I officially became Trooper’s foster mom. Well, you guessed it, that was an epic foster fail. I fell in love with Trooper & officially adopted him on 6/20/2020
