Hank (fka Schatzi DFW) was actually one of our first foster dogs for Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue; the others were all foster-to-adopt with the first three arriving when TGPR still had a working dog program. Hank (pictured at 3.5 months), and his little sister Lilly, were rescued from an Ellis County family who advertised "FREE" puppies online on a neighborhood app. They had started to become neighborhood nuisances. Living in a rural area and knowing that "FREE" animals can often end up in bad situations such as for bait dogs (yes, it is still a problem in rural Texas areas) or neglected, unvetted (likely to be left breeding intact, contributing eventually to the growing crisis in the number of Great Pyrenees dogs in Texas), we evaluated the pups for TGPR. Hank now lives his best life, often traveling to all the wilder Texas places.
