Helsi, our spirited 3-year-old Great Pyrenees, joined us at 3 months old, determined to find her forever home. She wandered into our apartment complex, and when no owner showed up, she fit right in with our dog and cat. Shortly after, Helsi was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. Despite this, we were determined to save her. Rescuing Helsi opened our eyes to animal rescue, and we began supporting Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue thanks to her.

Helsi listens in “slow motion,” taking her time with everything. She greets everyone with a playful body slam and a dripping beard, staying hydrated in the Texas heat. Fun facts: she burps like a grown man, always escapes, finds the coolest spots to lounge, often has her tongue out, and is a pro at knocking on doors. Without her, our lives would have a 106-pound void. Helsi and her siblings bring endless joy to our home.
